Protecting the climate or achieving economic success? For Drees & Sommer, it is not a matter of one or the other. At the beginning of 2020, the company started working towards becoming a Beneficial Company, namely one that acts as a role model and gives back more than it consumes – not only to the environment, but also to society.
Drees & Sommer’s current 50-Years campaign is an example of this. Instead of organizing a lavish anniversary celebration, Dreso employees at regional offices are undertaking a range of sustainable and social projects throughout the year.
And since the beginning of 2020, Drees & Sommer has had a climate-positive footprint. To achieve and maintain this goal, the company is reducing and compensating for its carbon emissions, supporting afforestation projects, investing in regenerative products in keeping with the Cradle to Cradle® principle, and continuing to support social projects both nationally and internationally.
This is the type of commitment that characterizes Beneficial Companies, which focus not only on economic success, but also on the greatest possible benefit for society and the environment through community and sustainability initiatives. In short: For a Beneficial Company, economy, ecology and social responsibility are inextricably linked.

Dreso electricity has been green for years: Since 2012, electricity at all German Drees & Sommer locations and at some 50 company-owned charging stations has been completely generated from renewable energies.
Sip by sip towards becoming a Beneficial Company: step by step, all our locations are getting special taps instead of reusable bottles for the drinking water of the employees. And it's worth it: the conversion at our Stuttgart location, for example, pays for itself after only 18 months!
Whether brochure, flyer or business card - we use only environmentally friendly products like Cradle to Cradle certified or sustainable grass paper for print media and advertising material. This of course also applies to the copying and printing paper in our offices.
A hybrid and electric vehicle fleet powered by green electricity is not enough for us. We also ensure climate-friendly mobility with company bike and car-sharing offers as well as public transportation subsidies for our employees.
Celebrate sustainability! Our events are climate friendly. We have developed our own sustainability standards and implement them for all internal and external events.
Sustainable now and in the future: Just stay at home! Virtual meetings and digital communication solutions have proven their worth not only in the current situation - they help to reduce climate-intensive business trips.
